1. Introduction

Wellbeing Coach (“Wellbeing Coach”, “the Extension”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a browser extension designed to help users maintain healthier and more focused work habits while using their browser.

The Extension provides features such as:

active browser time tracking;
focus and distraction monitoring;
hydration reminders;
eye-rest reminders;
movement breaks;
breathing and mindfulness exercises;
productivity and wellbeing statistics;
Focus and Wellbeing Scores;
related digital wellbeing and productivity features.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension processes, why that information is needed, where it is stored, and what control users have over it.

The current version of Wellbeing Coach is designed as a local-first application.

Detailed user activity data processed by the Extension is stored locally in the user’s browser and is not transmitted to the developer, analytics providers, advertising services, data brokers, or other external servers.

2. Browser Activity Information

To provide its productivity, distraction-monitoring, focus, and wellbeing features, Wellbeing Coach processes certain information about browser activity.

This may include:

whether the browser is actively being used;
whether the device is active, idle, or locked;
the domain of the active browser tab;
the category assigned to a domain, such as Productive, Neutral, Distracting, or Ignored;
timestamps associated with browser activity;
duration of active browser usage;
duration of activity associated with individual domains;
productive, neutral, and distracting browser time;
continuous active-session duration;
workday start, pause, resume, and finish times;
Focus Session duration;
distraction-budget usage.

Domain Processing

The Extension may read the URL of the active browser tab in order to determine which website the user is currently using.

The URL is used to extract the website domain for activity classification and statistics.

For example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/productivity/comments/example

may be processed as:

reddit.com

Wellbeing Coach stores the domain used for classification and statistics, not the complete page URL, URL path, URL query parameters, or URL fragment.

The Extension does not store full browsing URLs as part of its activity history.

3. Website Content

Wellbeing Coach is not designed to collect or store the content of webpages visited by the user.

The Extension does not intentionally collect or store:

webpage text;
private messages;
email contents;
passwords;
authentication credentials;
form submissions;
payment information;
search queries contained in webpage content;
files viewed on webpages;
other webpage content unrelated to the Extension’s disclosed functionality.

Browser activity information is processed only to provide the productivity, focus, distraction-management, and wellbeing features described in this Privacy Policy.

4. Health and Wellbeing Activity

Wellbeing Coach may locally process information related to the user’s interaction with wellbeing features.

This may include:

hydration reminders;
hydration actions completed, skipped, ignored, or snoozed;
optional water-volume entries entered by the user;
eye-break reminders;
eye-break completion status;
movement-break reminders;
movement-break completion status;
breathing or mindfulness sessions;
reminder timestamps;
reminder intervals;
reminder completion, skip, snooze, and ignore status;
wellbeing goals;
wellbeing scores;
focus and productivity scores;
streaks;
achievements.

This information is used only to:

operate the Extension;
schedule reminders;
calculate statistics;
show progress;
calculate Wellbeing and Focus Scores;
provide user-requested productivity and wellbeing functionality.

Wellbeing Coach is a productivity and digital wellbeing tool and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or professional medical advice.

5. User Settings and Preferences

The Extension may locally store settings selected by the user, including:

reminder intervals;
enabled or disabled wellbeing modules;
work schedule preferences;
idle-detection settings;
website classifications;
distraction limits;
website-blocking preferences;
Focus Session settings;
notification preferences;
Do Not Disturb or Pause Coach settings;
selected goals;
other application preferences.

These settings are used solely to customize the operation of the Extension.

6. Information Entered by the User

Some features may allow users to voluntarily enter information, such as:

water volume;
custom website classifications;
Focus Session intent or task descriptions;
custom reminder intervals;
personal productivity goals;
personal wellbeing goals.

This information is used only for the feature for which it was entered and is stored locally in the user’s browser.

The current version does not transmit this information to the developer.

7. How Information Is Used

Information processed by Wellbeing Coach is used only to provide functionality directly related to the Extension’s disclosed purpose.

This includes:

measuring active browser time;
distinguishing active and idle periods;
identifying periods of continuous browser activity;
scheduling hydration reminders;
scheduling eye-rest reminders;
scheduling movement reminders;
tracking completion of wellbeing activities;
measuring distraction time;
applying user-configured distraction limits;
displaying user-configured distraction warnings;
blocking or dimming distracting webpages when requested by the user;
operating Focus Sessions;
providing breathing and mindfulness sessions;
generating daily productivity statistics;
generating wellbeing statistics;
calculating Wellbeing Scores;
calculating Focus Scores;
maintaining streaks and achievements;
restoring Extension state following browser suspension or restart;
applying user-selected preferences.

The Extension does not use browsing activity or wellbeing information for:

advertising;
personalized advertising;
advertising profiling;
data brokerage;
credit decisions;
insurance decisions;
employment decisions;
surveillance;
unrelated commercial purposes.

8. Local Storage

The current version of Wellbeing Coach stores its application data locally using storage provided by the Chrome browser.

Locally stored information may include:

user settings;
activity sessions;
domain classifications;
daily statistics;
health-action history;
focus-session information;
distraction statistics;
Wellbeing and Focus Scores;
streak information;
achievement information;
local diagnostic or product-event records used by the Extension itself.

This information remains on the user’s device.

The current version of Wellbeing Coach does not upload this detailed information to a Wellbeing Coach server.

9. Data Transmission

The current version of Wellbeing Coach does not transmit detailed user activity data outside the user’s device.

In particular, the current version does not transmit to the developer or third parties:

browsing activity history;
visited domains recorded for productivity statistics;
full URLs;
health-action history;
hydration information;
Focus Session history;
distraction history;
Wellbeing Scores;
Focus Scores;
locally stored Extension statistics.

The current version does not use:

remote in-Extension analytics;
advertising networks;
data brokers;
cloud storage for browsing activity;
a remote user-profile database;
a Wellbeing Coach account system;
a payment or subscription backend.

If future versions introduce remote analytics, accounts, cloud synchronization, payments, subscriptions, or other external data processing, this Privacy Policy and the relevant Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated to accurately describe those practices.

Material changes to data processing practices will be disclosed as required before or when the relevant functionality is introduced.

Wellbeing Coach does not sell user data.

The current version does not share locally processed browsing activity, productivity information, health-action information, or Extension usage history with:

advertisers;
advertising networks;
data brokers;
analytics providers;
social networks;
employers;
other users;
unrelated third parties.

Because detailed activity information remains locally on the user’s device, the developer does not ordinarily receive or have access to this information.

11. Advertising

The current version of Wellbeing Coach does not contain third-party advertising.

Wellbeing Coach does not use browsing activity, productivity information, or wellbeing information for personalized advertising.

12. Chrome Permissions

Wellbeing Coach requests Chrome permissions only where they are required to provide disclosed Extension functionality.

Depending on the Extension version and the features enabled by the user, permissions may include the following.

Storage

Used to store Extension settings, statistics, activity records, wellbeing actions, website classifications, and application state locally.

Alarms

Used to schedule reminders and other time-based Extension functionality.

Idle

Used to determine whether the device is active, idle, or locked.

This allows Wellbeing Coach to avoid incorrectly counting periods when the user is away from their computer as active browser time.

Notifications

Used to display wellbeing and productivity reminders when an in-page notification is unavailable or inappropriate.

Tabs

Used to determine which browser tab is active and to identify its website domain for activity tracking, website classification, focus measurement, and distraction monitoring.

Scripting

Used to provide user-facing functionality inside webpages, such as:

wellbeing reminder overlays;
movement-break overlays;
eye-rest overlays;
distraction warnings;
distraction-blocking interfaces;
page dimming.

Optional Website Access

Wellbeing Coach may request optional permission to interact with webpages in order to display in-page overlays, dim webpages, or provide other user-facing coaching functionality.

Where this permission is optional, the user may decline it.

If permission is declined, functionality that requires direct interaction with a webpage may be unavailable or may use standard browser notifications instead.

Website access is not requested for advertising or unrelated tracking purposes.

13. Browsing Activity and Productivity Classification

Wellbeing Coach processes website-domain information to provide user-facing productivity and distraction-management functionality.

Domains may be classified as:

Productive;
Neutral;
Distracting;
Ignored.

Users may change these classifications.

Website classification is used to calculate productivity statistics and apply distraction-management functionality requested by the user.

Browsing activity is not used to build an advertising profile.

14. Data Retention

Locally stored Wellbeing Coach data may remain in the user’s browser storage while the Extension is installed or until the user deletes it.

Retention may also be affected by:

browser-storage management;
removal of the Extension;
browser-profile deletion;
actions taken by the user;
changes to Chrome’s storage behavior.

The Extension provides functionality for deleting locally stored Wellbeing Coach data.

15. Exporting and Deleting Data

Wellbeing Coach provides controls that allow users to manage their locally stored data.

Depending on the current version, users may:

export their Wellbeing Coach data as a local file;
delete all locally stored Wellbeing Coach data;
change or remove individual preferences;
reset website classifications;
disable individual wellbeing modules;
disable or pause coaching features;
uninstall the Extension.

Deleting all Wellbeing Coach data removes the Extension’s locally stored application data from Chrome storage.

Because the current version does not maintain a remote Wellbeing Coach user database containing this detailed activity information, there is no corresponding remote activity profile that needs to be deleted.

16. Data Security

Wellbeing Coach is designed to minimize privacy and security risks by keeping detailed user activity information locally on the user’s device.

The Extension is designed to:

request only permissions required for its disclosed functionality;
avoid transmitting detailed browsing information externally;
avoid unnecessary collection of webpage content;
keep productivity and wellbeing history local to the browser.

Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their device and browser profile.

Someone who has access to the user’s device or Chrome profile may potentially be able to access information stored locally by browser extensions.

17. Third-Party Websites and Services

Wellbeing Coach operates while users browse third-party websites.

This Privacy Policy applies only to information processed by Wellbeing Coach.

Google Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, operating-system providers, and websites visited by the user may independently process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

Wellbeing Coach does not control the privacy practices of these third parties.

18. Children’s Privacy

Wellbeing Coach is a general productivity and digital wellbeing application and is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13 or the applicable minimum age in the user’s jurisdiction.

The current version does not operate a remote service designed to collect personal information from children.

If the Extension’s intended audience or data-processing practices materially change, this section will be reviewed and updated as appropriate.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when:

Wellbeing Coach functionality changes;
new data-processing practices are introduced;
remote analytics are introduced;
cloud synchronization is introduced;
accounts or authentication are introduced;
payment or subscription services are introduced;
third-party integrations are added;
applicable legal requirements change;
Chrome Web Store requirements change.

The Last Updated date at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when it was most recently revised.

If a future version materially changes how user information is processed, transmitted, or shared, the Privacy Policy and applicable user disclosures will be updated accordingly.

20. Chrome Web Store User Data and Limited Use

Wellbeing Coach uses information only for functionality directly related to its disclosed purpose as a digital wellbeing and productivity tool.

Information processed through Chrome APIs is used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the Extension’s user interface and description.

Wellbeing Coach does not:

sell user data;
use user data for personalized advertising;
transfer browsing activity to advertising networks or data brokers;
use browsing activity for purposes unrelated to the Extension’s disclosed functionality;
use user data for creditworthiness or lending purposes.

Wellbeing Coach’s use of information received from Chrome APIs is intended to comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and applicable Limited Use requirements.
